Le temps d’un week-end, la Grande Halle de La Villette devient un temple de la scène ballroom. Orchestré par Kiddy Smile & Friends, en complicité avec le scénographe Frédéric Fontan, ce festival queer rend hommage aux racines politiques et artistiques de la culture ballroom, née au sein des communautés racisées et LGBTQIA+ de New York.
En amont, des ateliers gratuits de whacking et de voguing, animés par Sofia Stanić, Matyouz Gorgeous Gucci, Madame B Gucci et Fanny Figols, ont permis de s’initier ou de se perfectionner.
Le samedi 29 novembre, le GlitterWhack réunit les whackers du monde entier pour un battle international, avant le Club Strangé, qui prolonge la journée jusqu’à 2h avec DJ sets, drag shows et lip-sync.
Le dimanche 30 novembre, The EBL, le voguing ball imaginé par Kiddy Smile, en est à sa 3e édition. Les meilleures houses européennes s’y affrontent sur un catwalk XXL, devant un jury international.
For one weekend, the Grande Halle de La Villette transforms into a temple of the ballroom scene. Organized by Kiddy Smile & Friends, in collaboration with set designer Frédéric Fontan, this queer festival pays homage to the political and artistic roots of ballroom culture, born within the racialized and LGBTQIA+ communities of New York. Leading up to the festival, free whacking and voguing workshops, led by Sofia Stanić, Matyouz Gorgeous Gucci, Madame B Gucci, and Fanny Figols, offered opportunities to learn or hone your skills. On Saturday, November 29, GlitterWhack brings together whackers from around the world for an international battle, followed by Club Strangé, which extends the day until 2 a.m. with DJ sets, drag shows, and lip-syncing. On Sunday, November 30, The EBL, the voguing ball conceived by Kiddy Smile, celebrates its third edition. The best European fashion houses compete on an XXL catwalk, in front of an international jury.
